Our District has developed a Wellness Policy that is focused on improving the health of students. The policy was developed by the health and wellness advisory council that includes teachers, parents, administrators, and the district nurse.

Local Wellness Policy
The Local Wellness Policy requirement is established by Section 204 of Public Law 109-265, the Child Nutrition and WIC Re-authorization act of 2004. The law requires each Local Education Agency (LEA) participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and/or School Breakfast Program (SBP) to develop a local wellness policy that promotes the health of students and addresses the growing problem of childhood obesity.
Wellness Support Committee
The Wellness Support Committee was formed in 1992. This Committee consists of parents and food service administration with nursing and counseling staff represented as well. The committee renders support and input on menu planning, adopting nutritional initiatives, current legislation, expanding the culinary horizons of the students, introducing "healthy" foods, as well as compliance with the district Wellness Policy.
The National School Lunch Program has extensive regulations. Meal components, serving sizes, financial obligations, procurement guidelines and wellness requirements are all strictly outlined in the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010. The Wellness Committee members need to be well informed of the guidelines and limitations imposed by the USDA and the above regulations. Members of the Wellness Committee are our best ambassadors in the community.
